Project Narrative:
The overall design of the youth sanctuary centered on the cross and water. The cross takes form in the ceiling (representing two different ideas) and also represented as a reflection onto the floor below, as if it’s been seen as a reflection in water. This cross found in the ceiling was made to suggest and represent divine light breaking through and shining down, creating a silhouette. Triangulation in the ceiling was custom made for acoustical reasons but designed to reference trinity.
The wall to the right of the entrance of the sanctuary was designed and also custom made to mimic the element of water. Lighting in these wall panels were added to help illustrate was as a pure element. These panels were placed on the right as a reference to the idea of “choose the right,” or to choose the right path.
Various furniture/object pieces were also made specifically for this youth sanctuary, one of which was a cross. This cross was made to resemble not only a cross, but also Christ’s crown of thorns.
